"A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words"
- Ansel Adams -
Who we are
I’m Pavol,
I have been involved in photography since around 2007. In the beginning, it was all about figuring out what worked and what didn’t through trial and error, constant learning, and a lot of experimentation. But I’m glad I pushed through, because I’ve learned so much along the way.
Photography has always been a passion, and over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to capture everything from weddings and family portraits to reportage and landscape photography. The thing I love most about photography is the process of waiting for the perfect moment—watching time pass through the viewfinder and knowing that I control when that moment is captured. It’s a delicate balance between patience and instinct, and it’s what makes each shot so rewarding.
Capturing the right moment can be more challenging than it appears, but for me, every photoshoot is an opportunity to improve, to experiment, and to push my boundaries as an artist. The beauty of photography lies not just in the technical aspects, but in the ability to tell a story with a single picture.
I’m not a fan of heavily edited, over-processed photos. Instead, I focus on creating images that feel natural and authentic. I want my clients to look at their photos and think, “This is how I remember it,” not “He used all the filters in Photoshop.” My goal is to capture the essence of the moment, with as little digital intervention as possible, resulting in photos that feel timeless and true to life.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll often find me outdoors, enjoying activities like hiking, cycling or running. These pursuits not only help me stay active, but they also provide fresh perspectives and inspiration for my photography. There’s something about being immersed in nature, whether it’s on a mountain trail, cycling through the countryside, or running at sunset, that fuels my creativity and reminds me of the beauty of the world around us. It’s in these moments that I feel most connected to both my passion for photography and the world I’m capturing.
I’m Richard,
I am a portrait, land and nightscape photographer. I know, It’s a strange combination, but I really like both styles a lot. I shoot mainly in Slovakia near Zilina, but there’s no problem traveling anywhere on the Earth. If you would like to support me, you can do that on Patreon (www.patreon.com/richardpetrech). Even a small amount per month would help me to create non-commercial stuff.
I started with serious photography in 2010. I was always into photography, but with the first DSLR, my shutter-pushing addiction has escalated. I had to learn what all those crazy numbers and letters in the viewfinder mean.
I really like to shoot people… with a camera :). Good light, small tweak in the angle and small change in expression can make a huge difference. What I really like the most is to find the right angle and the right side. I arrange my own shoots and I do TFP shoots, where I can really let my imagination go, without any expectations.
I always enjoyed hiking. Joining photography and wandering through forests and mountains is the best combination for me. Making hikes, bringing back some photos, and occasionally printing them large, is a joyful process. And absolute happiness is when my pictures and prints make others happy. During my trips I try to keep “leave no trace” principles (https://lnt.org/) so that others can shoot the same nature as you did. What I like the most is wandering through the nights, shooting the panos of the Milky way and night sky. I am a fan of science and astronomy, and to capture the light that is million years old or some special rare astronomy events, are the experiences of my life.
When I don’t shoot, I shoot my two crazy daughters ;-). I chase them with my camera and I document their childhood. I roll in the sand with a beach volleyball ball, I like sport climbing, badminton, skiing and family traveling. But nothing I would do and be, if I didn’t have the same crazy woman beside me…
